My Mini Growing Space is a small woodland and/or edible teaching garden that we help you build for your own group or community.
We want you to get started straight away! And the steps are simple.
We have put together a comprehensive step-by-step plan so that children and small communities are empowered to kickstart their own and unique Mini Growing Space: all with fun & confidence, and even if you are complete beginners! We teach you everything!
The process has 5 steps:
This idea is open to small schools, churches, libraries, communities centres or groups that have available a small unused or derelict outdoor space that they would like to transform into an attractive & educational space for their community.
We want to encourage any nature lover to take part and apply so they can grow healthy food, improve the wellbeing and mental health of young people, meet their group/organisation sustainability goals, learn the basic skills on how to use and maintain their new space successfully all year round!
Once you get your funding approved (which will mainly cover the cost of material and equipment), you will receive the following:

The project had a big impact in our small community. Our children understand more joyfully the role that nature plays in our health in the widest sense and our adults felt the pride to witness it.
We had a great time and we ate a few cherry tomatoes. I'll keep you all posted if you want to came and plant our autum plants. We could have another tea.
Dear neighbours, we've found a solution, and the planters are 5 mins from our homes. Please let me know when you'd like to come.
I'll be organising a celebration and tea, if you'd like, (as you can see it's a lovely space with a wonderful wooden table and benches) And there will be cherry tomatoes :)
Dear neighbours, I'm so sorry, we have been told to remove the planters. I had been given telephonic permission but not in writing and there is nothing I can do now.
I am looking for solutions, I'll keep you posted.
Dear neigbours, you may have noticed the planters arriving and the earth. This Sun at 4pm you are all invited to help start out planting.
The vegetables and fruits will be arriving after later (You'll get another invitation) It should be fun and we'll soon be munching on organic veg and fruit.
Small crop but preciouss!! :)
Site visit now completed, please do purchase the veg drugs for your space as soon as you can! March is a great time to start with sowing seeds and get your Mini growing space going!
Do join the Facebook group as well for resources and also updates! We look forward to hearing from you!
Dear Pascale, I have looked for the Facebook page and I cannot find it as “My Mini Growing Space”. Please let me know what I may be doing wrong I have been looking at the veg trugs and they seem unsuitable, (very expensive and don't quite fit the space) I have researched and found another option: Lechuza planters. Let me know your thoughts if you'd like. I'm working a bit creatively but aiming not to get perfectionistic. I am recruiting a couple of young volunteers, which I think will maximize the educational and community impact of the project (And hopefully start an ongoing collaboration, for future projects) I have set the provisional dates for the planting on the 5th and 6th of May. I know it's taking a while, but I have some plants in my flat, (from a seed exchange, which is another connection I aim to foster). I will also be employing somebody from Task Rabbit for light building and heavy lifting. I'll be great if you could visit after the 6th to see what we managed. Best wishes, Victoria

Hi Adela, I think your application is missing some pictures of your site. Would you be able to post a few on your page?
hi please submit your bank details so you can receive your funding!
Hi Adela, yes it has come through now well done! The only information missing is a picture of your site when the sun is out. Any chance that you can upload a couple of pictures ? A rough plan as well with the right measurements can be helpful.
Hi Pascale, I believe I have already. Have I done something wrong?
Hi it seems that there are a few details missing in your application. Please upload a few pictures of your site (with sun) and your action plan.
Without this your application may be rejected so it's important everything is uploaded corrected.
Your team is nearly there. Only a couple of steps left. 3 days before the end of your challenge. Please post your picture and your action plan!
