Why this Matters
The digital divide is leaving behind young people who live in disadvantaged and low income communities. TechSpace inspires young people to become confident creators rather than consumers of technology. It improves life opportunities and reduces intergenerational poverty by improving 21st century skills capacity for young people.
The Background
Since 2014, TechSpace has been hosted and managed by Camara Ireland and was established to have a major impact on creative digital youth education on a large scale with a mission to develop a national network of digital ‘TechSpaces’ to inspire young people to develop 21st century skills.
TechSpace has been successfully implemented across Ireland in youth organisations such as Foróige, YMCA, Youth Work Ireland and City of Dublin Youth Service Board. Our funder and supporter partnerships are diverse. Public partners include Science Foundation Ireland, the National Youth Council of Ireland, the Department of Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht and SB. Private partners include the Adobe Foundation and Inver Energy. Revenue from these funders goes towards new programme development and management of our existing programs and activities.
If you're a youth worker, an educator or a committed community leader, you can bring the magic of TechSpace to your community. You'll need to team with a local youth organisation and then you'll be provided with all the tools, resources and support you need to get started!
