We have to date donated 2000 bookdash books (Imagine & Im the Colour of Honey) the books were distributed to 25 ECD centers and we are happy to announce that the donation has helped our beneficiaries with book ownership, we have new books to use in our reading club and this has also increased the number of parents reading with their kids at home.
The donated books are driving a love for books to young learners and it is also sparking the curiosity and interest for this young minds to keep reading.
In future we plan to raise enough funds in order to print and distribute more books and furthermore, we are looking at using online Bookdash books in our daily reading program...
We run after school tutoring programs in 2 primary schools in Soweto and we have a centre in our local library.
Our program aims to eradicate illiteracy since our beneficiaries are taught in their home languages from grades 1 to 3, and when they get to grade 4 they are now taught in English and this presents barriers to learning to in the English language. This is where we step in, by introducing learners to reading for meaning and creating safe spaces for learners to actively participate in reading and peer learning.
We plan on starting on Friday, the 1st of September 2023
How often will your team meet? Are there any key dates to share for the project?

We are at first installing the interest for a young child to even look forward to reading for meaning and by so doinf we are also speading and increasing the knowledge in a sense of vocab, and relating to the contents learnt.
