So far so great! The solar panels have been added for safety in the evening. Students have already begun taking care of their designated planter boxes and are eager to see what spring brigs. The Stations of the Cross will be replaced once the rain stops, a feature that our students use during recess and lunch when they just want a quiet moment of prayer. Next up, will be another area of the school: the Peace and Forgiveness Garden.
Erin and Loren are doing a fantastic job with the garden! Over the break, they planted succulents, annuals, perennials, and an avocado tree. They even offered to come back every spring to help replant the annuals after they graduate. In addition, they rearranged the stepping stones in a more organized fashion leading up to the Stations of the Cross. A new sprinkler system was also installed. They plan to install solar lights to brighten up the area especially when we have evening school events. Plans for a vegetable garden, butterfly garden, and Kindness Rock garden are underway. We are so proud of our Hornets!
Timeline: To be completed by February 2024 - weekly work days, planter boxes already painted
Budget: Money will be used to replace the sprinklers, perennials, succulents, butterfly garden material, and garden decor
Impact: The St. Bede School community including other schools who play sports and visit our school yard, will be able to enjoy the beautiful grounds. Kinder and First grade students will practice being caring citizens by caring for the garden in the years to come.
Location: St. Bede School yard (garden and Peace and Forgiveness garden)
Hi all! I'm in the process of adding Erin and Loren's plan to this page. Can we please meet in the Peace and Forgiveness garden next Monday at lunch for a team photo? We can ask Kat to take our photo. Thank you!
