On the 13th of April
In Dunnes in Blackpool and Ballyvolane and Supervalu in Tower and Glanmire.
We are asking you to
Do your weekly shop. Bring some reusable bags and containers. After everything has been scanned, remove all excess packaging (Think - fruit and veg) and put it in the designated bins we have liaised with the shop to provide. In the meantime contact all your friends, family, co-workers etc and ask them to participate too.
To Demand Supermarkets to
1. Offer more items without packaging, such as fruit and vegetables (without plastic trays, wrapping and nets).
2. Make your own-brand packaging easily compostable or recyclable, and use less plastic.
3. Demand, through your purchasing power, that other brands you carry have easily compostable or recyclable packaging, and use less plastic.
4. Blaze a trail in Ireland by implementing a plastic free aisle, as has been done in the Netherlands.
5. Provide items in bulk, where possible, to reduce packaging. 6. Allow shoppers use their own containers, buying only what they need.
We are
Park Plastic Use Cork. We are part of the Sick of Plastic movement and the 13th is our national day of action. Be part of the fight against unsustainable plastic use by joining us on the 13th. Ireland is the biggest producer of plastic waste (per capita) in the EU.
