International Day of Play Community Fund

To celebrate the first International Day of Play, with the support of the LEGO Foundation, we invite communities to give play the time, space and support it deserves by hosting a playful event in your community, school or neighbourhood.

Play is critical for children's well-being and skills development. We want to ensure as many children as possible have the opportunity to engage in creative play on the first ever International Day of Play…and beyond.

We invite groups and individuals from the regions above to apply for funding to bring one of four proven play ideas to life in your community. Alternatively, apply for funding to host a play-related event on, or around, June 11 to celebrate the power of play.

Fund amounts per applicant range from $500 to $2,000.

Baetapele ba projeke ba reng?

The children have learned to communicate effectively, share ideas and address challenges together. This understanding goes beyond techniques, influencing their ability to face problems collaboratively in any context.

Adriana, Colombia

We learned that creativity knows no bounds and that by fostering an environment rich in imaginative play, art, and exploration, we can nurture not only the development of children but also the cohesion and vitality of our community as a whole.

Intouch NPO, South Africa

During the implementation of the project, we realised that it doesn’t matter where you are indoors, in the yard or in a shelter, you can learn while playing, you just need a little imagination and create certain conditions for the process.
