I think this is a great idea, and a worthwhile project. The idea of reclaiming / reusing H2O from rain or other sources is hardly a new one, but it appears to be new to SCV. Yet, there exists the real possibility for collecting and reusing (or perhaps re-distributing) water from rain to the extent that normal public water utilities are not required--or perhaps required ONLY MINIMALLY in the very near future.
As I understand the project, it will require support in terms of a commitment, but not in terms of financial contributions. (I.e. the project is not asking you for $$$!) Also, none of us are being asked to do back-breaking work in the middle of July or August! Far from it.
You will need to speak to Denise for more exact details, but the planting of a small garden will be only one positive outcome from the project. CHANGE X, here, is a beginning, but Denise is already thinking in terms of the likes of the Bill and Linda Gates foundation (Yes . . .that's the MICROSOFT Bill & Linda Gates) which has something like $70,000 to donate to projects of this type--and again, Denise has the details.
I was a bit skeptical at first, I admit, but after some serious discussions I found this project making more and more SENSE now as well as potentially making real CENTS for Stone Creek Village (tenants & management) in the near future.
It is most definitely doable, I believe, and deserves a fair hearing from all of you.
I encourage you to weigh in with your thoughts and input.
