Cabra Community College is focused on providing horticultural education for its students and the wider community.
We are currently privileged to have a lot of space available to us for the purposes of educating students in fruit and vegetable production. A large tunnel allows us to extend our season and show what can be done with the extra warmth and shelter that a polytunnel provides.
For our students the gardens are a resource and sanctuary, a break in the school day to get closer to nature and learning about nature and the environment, developing new skills and laying down the foundations of future careers and hobbies.
With the facility for practical hands on gardening in our polytunnel and gardens our aim is to also engage the community in growing their own and learning how easy it is to have healthy nutritious food from the garden through part-time spring and summer courses.
We are currently working on developing an orchard and soft fruit garden and intend to wall train fruit to demonstrate what can be achieved in small spaces.
