O que dizem os líderes do projeto?

"This concept of placing people around the dinner table creates the familiarity of family. It's so much more personal because you're sharing who you are, especially when someone enters your home. It's a different space, and it allows people to open up and be comfortable because the tone is already set. The conversation always starts with food and then becomes personal, and you share beautiful stories and hear beautiful stories. It's really what we would love to share with people, in the comfort of what a home truly is—it's who you are."

David and Ishara, OpenSeat hosts, South Africa

"I thought Sidewalk Talk was such a radically simple idea that would help people feel heard and seen. I felt that I, and anyone, could do this meaningful, beautiful act. The impact on me, and others, is that our perspectives are expanded upon hearing the multitude of stories that are out there. With this comes more empathy and compassion. People have shared over and over how much they appreciated being able to talk to someone and many who didn't stop to share are blown away by the concept and walk away, I'm sure, thinking about the importance of being listened to."

Lisa Mer, Chapter Leader in Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA

I joined Sidewalk Talk because I experienced loneliness growing up and longed for someone to truly listen to me. Finding solace through having someone there for me inspired me to offer the same to others. "Being part of Sidewalk Talk showed me that I'm not alone in my feelings and experiences, which was incredibly healing. By listening to people's stories, I developed a strong sense of compassion and connection within myself and the community. It reaffirmed the belief that our stories matter. Listening to others helps us build empathy, deepen our compassion, and create a supportive community where everyone feels valued and heard."

Ziv Ming Li, Chapter Leader in San Francisco, CA, USA and Head of Sidewalk Talk Art and Design
