Provide more opportunities for kids in your area to live a healthy and active lifestyle
The Background
HSE Community Games was founded in 1967 to provide young people with the opportunity to utilise their leisure time in a healthy and productive way. The Organisation is child-centred and the focus is on participation rather than winning. Children compete in friendly rivalry, in a fun and healthy way.
To qualify for the National Festivals - which are held in Athlone Institute of Technology, individual competitors must first compete at an area, then at County and sometimes at Provincial level. 8,000 children compete in the National Festivals every year.
How can you become involved?
HSE Community Games welcomes anyone who wants to become a volunteer. It’s a great way to make new friends, develop new abilities, interests and skills, try out new activities and get involved in your local community. You can give something back to your community, while at the same time helping children and young people in a positive way. Regardless of your age, your experience or the amount of time you can devote to Community Games, you can become involved in a way that suits you.
Community Games is already up and running in more than 500 communities across Ireland. If there is no group yet in your area, we can help you to set one up.
