Dogpatch Labs
Grow Remote presents the Grow Remote Dublin Launch Party
Grow Remote Dublin is kicking off with a Launch Party in Dogpatch Labs on February 13th from 6pm.
At Grow Remote we're building a national movement to connect remote workers in Ireland.
To start the ball rolling, we have some amazing speakers sharing their vast experience in remote working and what it can mean for Ireland and what we can do from a Dublin perspective to connect the remote dots..
- Renate Kohlmann
Renate has a passion and strong track record, of building successful teams in a wide range of industries including publishing and event management in retail financial services, computer hardware and software support and on-line retail for home goods. In autumn 2017, building on her experience growing and developing teams in Dell, Lafferty Group and Wayfair at locations in Dublin, Galway, Berlin and Bratislava, Renate set out the vision and started planning what was to become the first Virtual Contact Centre for the business and the first remote team to operate at scale in Wayfair Europe. After hiring in a strong team to lead the Virtual Centre and announcing 200 Virtual roles in Ireland, in October 2018 Renate stepped away from the business and is currently a Taskforce Member on the local Entrepreneur Pulse Club in Ballinasloe and is Chapter Lead for Grow Remote.
- Colum O'Connell
A native of Limerick, Colum moved to Valentia Island, Co Kerry 6 years ago with his wife and three children. Since moving to Valentia, Colum has become an active member of the community through several programs and organisations. He is the Grow Remote chapter lead for Valentia and is a member of the "Come Live In Valentia" work-group. He is the Chairperson of the Valentia Energy group, focusing on establishing energy independence for the Island through renewable energy.
Colum currently works for Killorglin headquartered company FEXCO as Head of Global Support for the Payments and FX division. Prior to joining FEXCO five years ago, he worked for Dell Technologies in a number of managerial roles covering Operations, Quality and Program Management.
- John Brett
John Brett is an Irish based remote worker and part-time "nomad", usually visiting 10 countries a year. He has worked remotely for the past few years in various engineering roles, and is currently leading a fully distributed development team across 4 timezones for a US based financial institution. He is passionate about remote work and the many advantages it offers both companies and workers. John has a lot of experience with web technologies and JavaScript in particular. Prior to his current role, he was a founder & CTO of a startup and wrote a book based on a Node.js framework.
Followed by a panel for moderated from the passionate Niamh Bushnell, CEO & Founder @ TechIreland.
At GrowRemote.ie we believe we’re in the middle of a seismic change in ways of working that opens up a whole new opportunity for a better quality of life, for remote workers and for rural Ireland.
Your local Grow Remote Chapter aims to help connect you with other remote workers here in Dublin or learn more about what it's like to work remotely and how we can improve the remote working capabilities of Ireland.
Look forward to meeting you at Dogpatch Labs on the 13th February and be sure to join the chapter here at our ChangeX page - https://www.changex.org/ie/growremote/dublin-ireland
