With our GIY group in the Dockland area we’d like to bring people together once a month who’d like to learn how to grow their own vegetables and exchange some knowledge and experience. We've got so many questions about growing and getting together with other growers seems like the best way to get answers.
Want to get involved?
We’re still looking for more people to join the team to help organising our meetups, especially people with some growing skills would be very much needed as the team so far has big motivation in learning to grow food but very little experience.
How to join
Anyone interested in joining the group once we kick off, please just click on join and we’ll keep you posted on upcoming events.
Where and when we meet
We’ll meet once a month in the CHQ building but we haven't set the next dates yet. Just message me if you have any questions. Looking forward to the first meeting. Hope to see you there…

Really enjoyed my GIY meeting tonight, thanks everyone for the warm welcome. Here's a few photos of my first attempt at growing this year.
Strawberry plant in hanging basket planted in March hopefully will fruit next summer.
Tumbling tomato plant in hanging basket - several immature tomatoes growing, might fruit within a month hopefully.
'Dwarf' tomato plants in ground -growing great, high hopes for these.
Potatoes in IKEA bag showing a purple flower so almost ready to harvest.
Parsley was easy, courgette grew well but tasteless.
Cucumber, carrots, onions, french beans, lettuce and spinach were a disaster.
Presently struggling with thyme and beetroot. See you all soon.
Hi there, we are just about to start keeping hens. Any advice on best breeds that will make good pets for kids & good layers? Many thanks in advance :)
After our meeting last week, with a lot of inspiration, we started growing in our house!
So on Sunday, we planted some seeds and today we woke up with this amazing surprise! They are starting to germinate!!
We've planted Kale, Rocket, Basil, Coriando, Radish, and Lettuce.
Look how beautiful they are!! <3
Great idea!
