Did we say we were having an online meeting tomorrow? And is 4pm OK for everyone?
Any issues with online courses like the following:- City & Guilds Basic Level 2 Food Hygiene Course for Catering

Accredited Food Hygiene Course Instant Access & Certification. Level 2 Course Only £15. It's actually £12 if the student can print their own certificate, £15 for it to be posted.
They can also monitor who's completed the course.
I am not going to be available for the next 10 weeks. I have negotiated with a local training company a Level 2 Food Hygiene course which we could do online. The cost for the course, booklet and exam paper would be £17 pp. We would need to set the exam once the lockdown allows. I understand that there is another trainer available, he would need to contact me for the arrangements. I am not going to be at the meeting tomorrow.

Re:the letter
1. When we apply for the space it ill be a standard PCC form and probably won't be addressed to Tim Bullock, therefore i think we should just petition the Town Council & County Councillors directly.
2. Preferably the Little pantry space but in reality any available space.
3. Offered assistance with insurance cover.
4. We will be looking to pay only a peppercorn rent and will look for support in the community to cover electricity costs after the first few years.
5. It would bring more footfall to the market
6. It would set a standard that Tenby & Pembrokeshire take sustainable development seriously, all to often we are viewed as only looking at short term monetisation.
7. This would be a very newsworthy story as reporters are always looking for reasons to do news stories from Tenby.
8. It would attract businesses with an environmental/ethical stance to take up units in the market and then by virtue other properties in town.
9.This in turn would attract long term ethical/environmentally concerned visitors who will become long term visitors as opposed to the short uplift visitors that we will see for the next 2-3 years
I would avoid the phrase "Green credentials", it sounds too much like green wash

Okay. You need to write to Tim to ask can he put us on the list for an application form once the units become available. There is a delay due to repairs. When he sends a form and says they are available that's when we can populate with the content we have discussed and support from the Town Council and County Councillors.
Would have been good to have your response earlier Gary. I sent the letter to Mike Evans, Michael Williams and Sam Skyrme- Blackhall on Jan 26th. Both Mikes have responded very positively. Was waiting until the end of this week to hear from Sam and will then send to Tim Bullock PCC. I can certainly add your points 6 - 9 and also add that we are open to suggestions of suitable alternative spaces. Your other points are already covered, I think. I've drafted the following letter to send to Tim Bullock, the man responsible for markets in Pembrokeshire. Anne and I suggest that we first send it, for comment, to our County Councillors, Mike Evans and Michael Williams and, maybe, to Sam or Lawrence Blackhall, before submitting to Tim Bullock. Reason being that they are far more likely to be supportive if they’ve been consulted first. Can anyone think of any omissions?

I am writing on behalf of the Tenby Community Fridge Initiative.
The mission of the initiative, which will be registered with the national organisation, ‘Hubbub’, is to minimise food waste by making it available, free, for collection by anyone who can use it. The community fridge would be a space where anyone can exchange surplus food, including businesses.
I could list all the aims and benefits but briefly looking at their website: https://www.hubbub.org.uk/the-community-fridge would give you a better overall insight.
“Hubbub coordinates the world’s largest Community Fridge Network with over 100 incredible community fridges running around the UK, and plenty more setting up. We offer free support to groups to set up their community fridge and provide a comprehensive guide, design assets and health and safety templates.”
I believe that you are aware of the need for a space for this organisation to exist and this is an application for the use of the Market unit recently vacated by ‘The Little Pantry’.
The organisation has already received a grant from ChangeX (supported by Microsoft) which will cover all costs of equipment for setting up and for necessary training.
There is a list of volunteers ready and willing to monitor and supervise the space.
We have facility for all volunteers to be certifiably trained in food hygiene and handling and an induction would be given to ensure that standards are kept consistently high.
Local shops, cafés and restaurants have been contacted and pledged their support for the scheme, enabling them to donate rather than bin unwanted food.
A local business has offered insurance cover.
The only stumbling block is an available venue with electricity supply that needs to be free of charge as there will be no income from the transactions.
It also needs to be easily accessible for both donations and collections as, otherwise, we would have to organise transport for both – not desirable, especially during Tenby’s pedestrianisation.
The market space suggested ‘ticks all the boxes’ and is ideal as it also offers the security of being locked daily.
We believe that:-
• It will cut food waste
• it would bring more people into the market place and that it would strengthen Tenby’s ‘green’ credentials
• it would build stronger bonds within the community
• it will provide people with nutritious, perishable food items which would otherwise go to waste.

Hi everyone.
I just wanted to let you know that the initial funding from ChangeX (supported by Microsoft) as arrived, so as soon as a) we have a location and b) we aren't in lockdown, we will be able to get the equipment we need to get started!
It looks as if we will need to have our January meeting online or, possibly, outdoors.
Sorry, a few extras that didn't show up in the last post. this is Claire serving at the window, some non foodstuffs and the cleaning and sundries storage - food bags etc.

Anne Hughes and I visited the Haverfordwest Community Fridge yesterday and I took some pics which I'll add. They are based in the FRAME building and are currently doing a window service due to covid restrictions. It was very interesting to chat to Claire, who's been there since before covid, and Paul who's joined them in October.
They get a lot of stuff donated from supermarkets, (Aldi, Tesco and M&S) which they collect. There is a fair amount of non-perishables in the form of tins etc. as some stores will not display dented tins. Non foodstuffs are also often donated - see pics - flowers, plants etc.
They provide a delivery service.
Have a look at the pics and, I'd suggest, take a look at their Facebook page for an idea of all the things they do.
Great to see more people wanting to be involved. I offered to sort
a rota for volunteers but think its early days to be contemplating that. I think we need first to find a venue! Also, all volunteers will need a level 1 food handlers qualification, which could be done in advance and which Gary is investigating. Hwest suggested that some larger organisations will sponsor a few certificates? Worth asking if anyone has the connections. or possibly worth using any monetary donations for.
Sorry, pics seem to have done their own thing, but, hopefully, you can glean an idea of their set up.

Tenby Community Fridge: Minutes of Meeting held on Monday 23rd November at 4.30pm in Augustus Place Hall.
Present: Anne Draper, Kath Osborne, Anne Hughes, Shirley Draper, Gary Tapley, Julie Davis
Location: Anne reported on a discussion she had held with Sinead Henehan, PCC Regeneration, in which she said that PCC property had decided that the indoor markets needed to be used for commercial businesses and not charities, and suggested the De Valence would be suitable. It was agreed to set up a meeting with Sinead and Tenby Town Council. Other possible locations were discussed, including a unit in a carpark, possibly in St Teilos, thus being next to the Post Office, who are open to the idea of taking the community fridge under its wing for insurance purposes, or even in the carpark of the community learning centre/library.
Training: Gary can organise the provision of level 1 food hygiene certificates and suggested we combine this with an induction more specific to our operation.
Finance: The grant from Microsoft’s community arm, ChangeX, has been approved, but hasn’t reached Anne’s bank account yet. A separate bank account will be needed when it does.
Volunteer roles: Kath Osborne agreed to organise a rota for the Fridge Monitors, and first to arrange for volunteers to be able to visit the Haverfordwest Fridge to see how it works. Anne Hughes agreed to help with the linking of volunteers as buddies as required. Julie agreed to ask her son and other students to take on the design of the fridge signs, and Facebook etc so it is all co-ordinated.
Date of next meeting: Monday Jan 11th 4.30pm, Augustus Place Hall.
