Welcome to Open Orchard! I really believe that if more of us were doing things we cared about locally, the world would be better and we’d be much happier. Open Orchard provides a way for people to come out, plant a fruit tree and in so doing connect with neighbours and care for the environment.”

Very encouraged by this initial response, as I have only just floated the idea out there! I am going to mobilise some locals and local daily users of the park, I walk a dog there everyday, and there is a good community around. going to approach the Parks Dept. formally, have done so informally. For anyone who knows the park, it's the south-east side and corner that I am looking at. I got a wheelie bin installed last year due to the Council storing full bin bags for days, which got ravaged by foxes and crows/gulls. There was also an issue with camping there last year..we got the Council to lock the park at night - it was being left open, and the aftermath of parties was unsightly in the morning, also people letting dogs off in the dark, tend not see/pick up their litter? I think this corner would be a sun trap for fruit trees, and cover the wall which is starting to gather graffiti. It is also an unkempt corner of the park, the existing pyracanthas and wall cover should be trimmed and tidied? I did some work on here last year, as it was attracting human soiling, and rubbish dumping! [email protected] is my contact, or 086 2622811
