55 kids received a succulent to care for and learned about the impact of them. Funding helped get us extra succulents to give away, supplies such as water bottles and those used for advertising and event setup.
Project will begin as soon as funding is recieved. Team will meet twice to plan and once or twice for implementation. Team members will complete tasks between meetings and implementation of the project. No key dates are listed at this time. This will change as the project advances.
Budget: seed funding will be spent on supplies: succulent plants, dirt, pots, and copies of succulent care sheets. Supply costs are the only costs anticipated as we plan to coordinate with the library for space, registration and distribution at 1 or 2 events.
Impact: Children will learn about and experience caring for an indoor plant, along with being educated about the benefit of indoor plants. We hope to have 60 to 80 children participate, depending on succulent costs. We plan to increase the knowledge children have about environmental justice along with caring for plants.
Location: Distribution and education will occur at Maxwell Library. They have agreed to assist following the securing of funds to begin the project. The kid leader has decided on the location, will help with getting event information to the public and has researched costs. Kids will be /have been involved in developing the plan, discussing goals, securing supplies, preparing for the event, organization, and will be holding the event and running it with adult guidance.
This is beautiful, Tammie! Thank you so much for sharing and being part of our growing community of tree, nature, and plant lovers!
