Welcome to Community Composting on ChangeX. Food waste is the largest category of material in municipal landfills, where it creates methane, a powerful greenhouse gas. By composting our food waste we can greatly reduce the amounts of methane produced. In addition, the compost produced can reduce the need for chemical fertilizers and produce higher-yielding crops. We're excited to help you start a local composting program with your community group, church, school or workplace!

The Compost Montclair team will research, learn and share information about composting with community members to encourage a reduction of organic waste going to the County Landfill. We will explore the viability and options for on-site composting, local collection and nearby initiatives with the hopes to set up a community composting drop off site at the Montclair Community Library. We will also offer starter kits for household composting, offer virtual library programs and disseminate information around the County to promote community-wide composting.
