With this project, you'll reimagine what a simple 20-feet-by-8-feet parking spot can be. Choosing from four designs, you can turn the parking spot into a space for play, a space to expand business, or merely a space to be. The foundation of the design will be from the digital fabrication library Wikiblock, but you'll bring the colour and unique spin to the design.

As our Power of Produce activity at the Downtown South Boston Farmers Market on Saturday, we planted vegetable plants, vegetable seeds, and pollinator plants in our parklet benches! We used this as an educational moment where the kids enjoyed learning how food is grown. And they had the best time!!
Our kids reading events that we have had recently at the Downtown South Boston Farmers Market in partnership with the Halifax County Library and the Dolly Parton Imagination Library - we can't wait till we have these in our new parklet!
Three of our benches for our parklet have been installed and three more are drying from the painting and ready to be delivered soon. The impact so far has been incredible! It provides seating at the market, gives us a space to be, and to meet each other at the market. It is providing a great community space, an awesome social space to listen to bands, have kids reading events, and for the community to use for education of growing vegetables. It creates the perfect space for us! We can't wait for all the fun this will bring to our market for the future!
Our team is looking forward to the Garden Parklet at the Downtown South Boston Farmers Market!
Our plan started with needing a community space and some seating at the market. It has turned into that plus much more - a space to be. Meeting each other at the market. Creating a social space. A place to listen to the musical entertainment. A place to have kids reading events in partnership with the library. The perfect space for the community to use for education of growing of vegetables. A restaurant design with some koda planter boxes in addition to the benches for a farm & nutrition theme.
How awesome is that! The POP activities at the Downtown South Boston Farmers Market not only make learning about healthy eating enjoyable but also encourage kids to try new fruits and veggies. Plus, they often help foster a connection between children and local farmers, promoting a deeper understanding of where their food comes from. It's a win-win for everyone involved!
That's awesome! It's great to see kids learning how food is grown and that it doesn't just come from a grocery store. The POP club at the farmers market has such a huge impact on our community!!
