Congratulations to our First LEGO League Challenge robotics team the Robloxians on winning the Core Values award and advancing to the regional competition!
The project is going well, and we have plans to continue. Our Challenge team of 4th-8th grade students will compete this weekend at a local practice qualifier, and again in January at the local qualifying competition.
The Discover classes of K-1st grade students have learned about probability, cause and effect, and had fun making ramps, building vehicles to go down them, and graphing their results, with the STEAM Park. They have also enjoyed the 6-brick warmups, and the lessons about creating through Masterpiece.
Watching the engineering concepts spark students' creativity has been a great part of this project. Asking questions like, "what would happen if you . . . " and letting their imaginations take over and create something, has been a wonderful thing to be a part of. Additional students will join the Discover program after the holidays, in January. Thank you for your generous support and for allowing us to implement a fun, creative, and impactful project in our community!

The impact of our project has been to introduce a new First LEGO League program in our area, including a First LEGO League Challenge team of 4th-8th grade students, and a First LEGO League Discover class for kindergarten and first grade students. The impact in the community has been to introduce a new STEM program of Learning through Play with a great reception from educators, community members, and parents.

We will be able to start our project on September 13, and our team will meet weekly for two hours. The key dates for the project are the scrimmage on October 21 at the Frost Museum in Miami, scrimmage on December 7 in Stuart, and robot game on January 20 at the Greene School in West Palm Beach.

We plan to spend the seed funding by purchasing the Spike Prime Robot, and the FIRST LEGO League Challenge and Discovery materials, including Challenge set, class packs, engineering notebooks, FLL registration, and local program partner registration, as well as team t-shirts and the costs of attending local events.
