It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to The GreenPlan.
Our mission is to improve the quality of life and wellbeing on Earth for present and future generations by empowering your community to tackle climate change.
I often think of the phrase ‘the power of one’ and I think of how many times people have thought to themselves ‘what can I do’ or ‘can I make a difference’. The GreenPlan on ChangeX is a terrific opportunity for the individual to put a team together and for that team to take relatively easy actions that all join up to reduce emissions. The more communities that join up, the faster we can see real measurable impact and results.
I will be keeping in touch with all The GreenPlan Communities on ChangeX – so look out for regular updates.

30 batteries dropped into the WEEE box in work today!
So, we had some bread that was about to go green (not in a good way), plus we had some fresh herbs languishing in the fridge (mint, chives & parsley). Cooked up a few chopped onions, whizzed the bread & herbs, and hey presto, 3 portons of herb stuffing straight to the freezer, awaiting the next Sunday roast chicken!
Great Dervla. That’s a start made on our Stop Food Waste activity. PS I’ve lots of rocket leaves growing out of control if anyone wants to make some rocket pesto.
We donated clothes to charity last weekend (31 items) - bit of sorting happening with the kids home for the summer
Great job. To date Total: 184 garments = 88 points
We save over 50% of our electricity costs using our 11 solar panels between solar electric usage and microgeneration credit from our energy supplier. Panels installed in Feb 22. Attached are the statistics for energy production and usage in that time.
Fantastic Dervla! 5.77 MWh has blown the 25kWh per home out of the water! 5.77 MWh = 5770 kWh, so you’ve saved enough for 231 homes at the rate of 25kW per home.
Society: 1 bottle of home made toilet cleaning spray from the book 'Clean and Green' by Nancy Birtwhistle.
200g Citric acid, 150ml boiled water, 20ml eco washing liquid, 10-20 drops of tea tree oil
Good job Amanda!
98 cans recycled from this mornings litterpick with Billy and Jonathan. Aisling kept count!
Wow! Great job Marie & Aisling. Litter picking & recycling in one fell swoop!
Unbelievable effort. Well done!
34 garments recycled at a charity shop today.
😂 This is a family effort across the generations of hoarders, so I’m afraid there’s a lot more where that came from!
Dearbhla fair play! Will you have any clothes left at this rate ?!?? 🤣
Visited Enniscorthy Recycling Centre today for #NationalFoodWasteRecycling week event & recycled 37 Plastic bottles & 15 cans from litter picks with Marie Stoneham, Enniscorthy Tidy Towns on 4/6 & from my own little local litter locomotions, plus 25 batteries including litter vapes.
Working at Bloom on Bank Holiday Monday - train up saved 126km driving (got lift home)
Great Fiona. Running total on non car day activity is 3,362 km = 336 points.
8 items of clothing donated to charity shop, hopefully for reuse in a new home!
Great. Running Total on clothes recycling: 119 garments = 57 points (21 garments = 10 points)
Spent the weekend in Belfast. 560km (?)approx by train return..2 days car free!!
Great job. Running total on no car days: 3,236 km = 324 points (100km = 10 points)
71 cans (58 plus found 13 on the way home) and 10 bottles recycled from litter pick with tidy towns this morning.
Thanks for carrying the big bag Dearbhla!
Great job Marie & Luke & Billy on the Enniscorthy Tidy Towns litter pick this morning. We also collected 35 plastic bottles and I’ll recycle them when I’m in the recycling centre on Thursday for the brown bin caddy distribution event.
12 items of clothing recycled.
Hi all,
I just sent 20 vapes to the recycling centre. Does anyone know if you can include these in the battery recycling?
These were collected from three litter picks.
Also 3 x AA and 1 x AAA batteries.
Thanks Dearbhla. I'll continue to bring them in so. Thanks F for the link to the survey.
I asked WCC Environment Office re. recycling vapes: “My understanding is that all have a battery so they are treated as WEEE so can be taken to one of the household Recycling Centres – no entry fee will apply if only bringing in WEEE.”
FYI Dept of the Environment have launched a public consultation on disposable vapes - it's open until 27 July - see link below https://www.gov.ie/en/press-release/d1c50-minister-smyth-launches-public-consultation-on-disposable-vapes/#:~:text=Commenting%20on%20the%20launch%20of,response%20to%20disposable%20vaping%20products
I'll have a root through Mam's tomorrow evening. She might have some...
Great Irene. That bring our batteries recycled total to 136. Tantalisingly close to the target of 150 batteries. “Anyone for the last few batteries?” 🪫 🪫
