"Welcome to Open Orchard! I really believe that if more of us were doing things we cared about locally, the world would be better and we’d be much happier. Open Orchard provides a way for people to come out, plant a fruit tree and in so doing connect with neighbors and care for the environment.”

Budget: we are looking at buying fruit trees this year because we're already behind in the growing season due to the late snow storms. $2500
Impact: the community will have access to fresh fruits in a longer season than the traditional orchards outside on the Eastern plains of Colorado. We can measure this by how many pounds of fruits are picked from the greenhouse. We are hoping to have this project maintained by the youth, and hoping to provide knowledge and increase interest in growing fresh food, self sufficientcy, and clean eating. It is expected that most fruit trees will not produce the first one or two years, so the evidence may be unmeasurable until then.
Location: Tuff's Ranch, 5055 S County Road 137, Bennett, CO, 80102
Tuff has been helping as he can between school and 4-H.
The youth in the community, Ranch Hands for the Day participants, will be tasked with maintaining the orchard once it's all set up and ready to go
