We've lodged our grant application with the Energia Get Ireland Growing Fund and GIY for the restoration of the old orchard @ Midleton Hospital. Here are some photos which shows the existing site which is really neglected for years. We're hoping to restore the existing section and plant new fruit trees to create a relaxing and tranquil public space.
Mary Walsh will be running outdoor workshops again this coming season.
Workshops run Saturdays 2.30pm to 4pm:
February 3rd – Apple tree and rose plant pruning.
April 7th - sowing seeds indoors and planting - onions, brassicas, potatoes outdoors.
June 2nd – transplanting seeds, weed identification and control.
August 4th - pest and disease identification and control. Harvesting crops.
October 6th - Winter care for a vegetable garden.
December 1st – Fruit tree care, creating an orchard.
Please dress for outdoor conditions. Children welcome.
First workshop of 2017 and the spuds and onion sets are in the ground! Great turn out and a lovely warm spring day! Our next get together is Saturday 18 March at 2pm.
Unfortunately we are postponing our Garden Workshop to Saturday 11th March next due to a family illness situation. Same time, same place at 2.30pm. See you there!
We're excited to once again host professional herbalist and nutritionist Vivienne Campbell at our garden on June 24th next. She will run a demonstration workshop.
