Whether you are a farmer of many acres, land manager of a large tract of land, or a gardener with a small lot, you can increase the number of pollinators in your area by making conscious choices to include plants that provide essential habitat for bees, butterflies, moths, beetles, hummingbirds, and other pollinators. Happy planting!

November 20, 2020 - Phoenix College Garden Club planted the first few plants of the Pollinator Garden at PC! (Some of them already have monarch caterpillars on them!)
Plant list:
Arizona milkweed (Asclepias angustifolia)
desert milkweed (Asclepias subulata)
white stem milkweed (Asclepias albicans)
brownfoot (Acourtia wrightii)
butterfly mist/Gregg’s mistflower hybrids(Ageratum corymbosum/Conoclinium greggii – Note from Natalie M. "the area I collected these seeds from has both plants and they might be hybridizing a little bit")
I'm learning to use a free, open source mapping program this summer in quarantine. Here's my first map. I also measured the site and it's about 1/2 acre!!
Mesa Community College Landscape Design class Fall 2019 produced beautifully thoughtful designs and ideas for the pollinator garden. The two student designs below won cash prizes! Congratulations Kaylan Rosa and Keeli King!
Students in the Spring 2020 Concepts of Biology Class at Phoenix College have started monitoring the area for pollinators and other wildlife so they can document the impact of the garden on the biotic community of the campus.
Students in Phoenix College's Plants and Society biology course will be starting their greenhouse plant propagation projects in the Fall 2020 semester, to grow our own native plant materials for the garden. So far, 36 students are working on the project and dozens more will participate as the project is built. Many hundreds more students and neighbors will enjoy the garden and the educational signage projects to come! Thank you ChangeX for seeding the project!
We don't have any aloe vera plants right now
