My Mini Growing Space is a small woodland and/or edible teaching garden that we help you build for your own group or community.
We want you to get started straight away! And the steps are simple.
We have put together a comprehensive step-by-step plan so that children and small communities are empowered to kickstart their own and unique Mini Growing Space: all with fun & confidence, and even if you are complete beginners! We teach you everything!
The process has 5 steps:
This idea is open to small schools, churches, libraries, communities centres or groups that have available a small unused or derelict outdoor space that they would like to transform into an attractive & educational space for their community.
We want to encourage any nature lover to take part and apply so they can grow healthy food, improve the wellbeing and mental health of young people, meet their group/organisation sustainability goals, learn the basic skills on how to use and maintain their new space successfully all year round!
Once you get your funding approved (which will mainly cover the cost of material and equipment), you will receive the following:

The Forest School has created a real buzz around the school.
Although it is still very young, and unfinished in places, it has already become a useable area for activities such as composting, bird watching and gardening.
The children have taken real ownership of the space, and are infuriated by the amount of litter that finds it's way there. This is in stark contrast to how they normally react to litter in the rest of the school grounds.
The grant has also allowed us to demonstrate to other providers that we are committed to making a difference to the lives of our pupils and this has opened up new opportunities.
Many parents, who have been watching the progress of the Forest School, have been spurred on to help us in other ways and we have even received a donation of £250 from a neighbor, who specifically requested it be spend on further development of the site.

Following our 'Pupil Forum' the suggestions have been collated and ranked. This has been combined with our original list of items to create a final vision. Total costs have been held lower than the £1,120 grant in case of unforeseen costs. See PDF for more details
