Would you like to support people hosting refugees? Or are you a host that would like more people to help you?
Change X and The Open Community have launched this funding initiative to help groups in the community support people who are hosting refugees.
To get involved, follow the five steps below as part of the ‘30 day challenge’ to set up your Community Support Group and access funding.
The steps include free online training and resources to support your group, hosts, and displaced families or individuals.
The resources were developed from the collective experience and expertise within Ireland’s Community Sponsorship Programme for Refugees and are based on feedback from people hosting refugees, as well as from people who have resettled in Ireland.

Friday mornings are buzzing when 12 to 14 women get together for 2 hours of shared creativity, when troubles are left at the door . The chatter is lovely to hear and so is the silence when we concentrate on something. The women practice English conversations and as more new people arrive from Ukraine, we absorb them into our little haven. Coffee time is very important especially when a Ukrainian treat is produced.
Once we are finished our sessions, everyone wants to help clean up and stay chatting. It is lovely to meet and say hello when we see them up the town, and many come out to volunteer in Tidy Towns .Connie and I are proud to have created these mornings and thank you to Change X for helping us to make it all happen.
We hope you are enjoying the Seasonal break and are refreshed for our upcoming Art and Craft Sessions. We will get started on Friday the 20th January 2023 at 10am
The Home Sharing Aggrement training was interesting and it certainly added to our understanding of what refugees are experiencing. Tge people who we are trying to help already have accomadition ,we are trying to integrate them through a shared experience of Art and Crafts where we as Irish can also learn from them aswell as providing a safe and creative environment for art therapy.
