We have had quite the delay in getting up and running but are now on a fast track to becomming a zero waste school. Although our official start date has been pushed back, (first due to covid; and now due to a little red tape with the commercial composting component), We are happy to say we have done some things in the interim. We have reused and repurposed some old cd's and vinyl records in beautification projects. We have also used paper scraps and cardboard for African American History Month decorations. I am proud to say we have an overflow of students desiring to be zero waste champions. We have well over 300 students and families directly impacted by this project.
We've received our initial seed funding and have ordered materials. We are excited about the project and look foward to sharing the impact we are sure this adventure is sure to have within the Ashe community!!!
We had our kickoff meeting and are excited about recycling. We plan to become well versed in recycling that we may educate custodial staff to join us in our efforts at Ashe!!! As we read/study material we will also assess what materials we have and what materials we lack to move forward. Our goal is to reduce and reuse by recycling and commercial composting.
