Action Plans
First Lego League Explore
Open young minds to wonder and explore. We are delighted to start an Explore team at our school. Our students will expand their horizons by applying critical thinking skills while collaborating, sharing, and testing ideas and problem solving in creative ways to accomplish goals. Wow, This is hands on learning at its best with the essential skills that will serve our students far beyond the classroom walls as technology is constantly growing in new and exciting ways that enrich our lives and make the impossible possible. Lego League is a very unique way to build these skills for future STEM and computer science opportunities. First programming offers that exploration that peaks interest and engages the love for learning in a way that is challenging yet fun. By the end of the season, we will be using Legos as a foundation to build relationships between our school families and the community.
We will begin this project by registering our team and coaches with FIRST in May when registration for the new season begin. After that is completed, we will purchase 3 SPIKE Prime Essential sets for our team to use as we work through the curriculum. Next, we will start recruiting students for the team in May/June for our start time in August. During the summer we will attend a FIRST training to prepare as coaches. In August, we will launch our Explore team with students once the new school year starts. Our coaching team will plan out our meeting sessions using FIRST and LEGO curriculum resources. Our season will culminate with a celebration festival event in December.
