Action plan:
Timeline: When will you be able to start your project? How often will your team meet? Are there any key dates to share for the project?
We will be able to begin our project immediately. Our team will be meeting weekly to communicate and execute each phase of the action plan. A key date or time for our project would be the Spring season. As a garden project, our results will be most vibrant and apparent between roughly March to May.
Budget: You don't need to share exact prices, but please share how you're planning to spend the seed funding & what costs you're anticipating to get your project up and running:
* Seeds/Live Potted Plants/Soil/Plant Food: $800
* Irrigation System: $300
* Tools/Shovels/Gloves/Plant Fencing: $200
* Educational Signs/Pamphlets/Community Pollinator Educational Tools: $500
Impact: How will your community benefit from this project? Do you have any measurable goals for your project, such as the number of people that will participate? Are you hoping to spread knowledge or increase interest in a specific subject?
Since our project location is across the street from a middle school, there will be potentially hundreds of students that will walk by. With educational signs, any passerby's will be educated on the qualities and benefits of a pollinator garden. Four of our group's members are substitute teachers, and we can hand out educational pamphlets and give daily lessons about pollinator gardens and how they benefit our community. We are hoping to spread bee awareness, decreasing fear and stigma, and increasing empathy and understanding for how crucial bees are to life. Since this location is outdoors, there will be plenty of space and fresh air for the public to practice safe COVID-19 protocols. Our community will benefit by having an increase in pollinators, causing flora to flourish. With an increase in bee awareness, our community will cease to fear bees, and will begin to also help them thrive.
Location: If your project requires physical space, have you decided the location? Do you have all necessary permission and permits to carry out your project at the chosen location?
Teri Grier is the owner of the chosen garden space, and has all necessary permission and permits to accommodate our project. We are thrilled to begin and appreciate this incredible opportunity to create The Bees Knees Oasis!
