The Allotment Society of Kilcoole is a community of local residents growing their own food, both at home and in communal spaces. The Society was founded in June 2016.
We are currently focusing our efforts on four objectives:
1. Registering people who are interested in allotments
2. Identifying potential sites to lease or buy, either public or private land
3. Organising monthly meetings to visit gardens, discuss food growing, etc.
4. Establishing the Society as a registered charity, drafting our constitution, etc.
Please join our GIY group or Facebook page to see when our next meeting is. We'd love to hear from you!

Private allotment in Kilcoole
We are offering space to grow food at our smallholding in Kilcoole. We have a number of established garden beds as well as a small polytunnel available. Annual contribution is between 250 and 350 euro depending on the space used.
This is our family's private garden, so it's a bit different to a traditional allotment:
- We are looking for someone who lives in Kilcoole, will adhere to organic principles (no chemicals or poisons), and can embrace our ethos of growing alongside, rather than in competition, with nature.
- We would first meet you and determine compatibility.
- You would have access to the garden and common areas (picnic table, campfire, native woodland).
- There is room to park one car, but we would encourage accessing the garden on foot or by bicycle for the majority of your visits.
If you are interested in learning more, please contact us at [email protected].
Tirmore allotments are run by Huw Otoole 0878041636 - I have also been given the following for an allotment in a walled garden but i know no more about it than the email contact [email protected].
I have just got an allotment in Tirmore, just up the road from Abwood Newtownmountkennedy. A bit on the expensive end at 250 and the set up is at an early stage of development but progressing well.
