We were able to purchase 1,500 books for our community. We purchased 1,000 books to distribute to children between the ages of 3-5 and 500 books for children 0-3 years of age. It was so amazing tp see the smiles on the children's faces and how excited the parents were to listen to the reading tips and to have a flyer to take home with them on reading tips, books to get for their children and how to sign up at the library so they can check out books for free. The books were distributed to Community Chest's Classroom On Wheels Bus, Washoe County Social Services Family Engagement Center and to CSA's Head Start and Early Head Start Programs. Out of the 1,500, 300 books were distributed in Lyon County and the rest were distributed in Washoe County. This was an incredible opportunity for our agencies and the parent and children we serve.

The books are off to printing and the estimated delivery date is 7/29/24.
We finally were able to find a printer that could print 1,500 books within our budget. The books are currently in the printing stage. We are so excited. Thank you Reno Print Store!

Budget: The entire budget will be utilized to purchase the books.
Impact: The impact of this project will be significant as the distribution of books will be to several counties as well as children from different backgrounds. The following agencies will be distributing books to children for this project: CSA, Community Chest, and Washoe County Human Services. Community Chest is pivotal to providing services to counties in rural Nevada. They will be distributing books through their Classroom on Wheels (COW BUS) Program and their Home Visiting Program. Community Chest is located in Storey County and provides services to Storey, Lyon, Mineral, and Nye County. Washoe County Human Services will be distributing books through their Family Engagement Center and through their Our Place Program. The Family Engagement Center provides services to children in foster care and reunification services to families. The Our Place Program provides shelter services to homeless families. CSA will be distributing books through their Early Head Start and Head Start Child Care Centers and to families, who have children in the 0-5 years old range, that participate in our WorkForce and Weatherization Programs. Our goal is to be able to provide 1-2 books to one thousand children. The project focus it to provide children with their very own book and to educate parents on the importance of reading.
Location: The project will be implemented in several physical locations due to the multiple partners and these partners have given permission to implement the project on their sites. We do not need permits to carry out our project at the chosen locations.
