A Pocket Forest is a small area of densely planted native trees, shrubs and ground cover. Our aim is to bring a forest ecosystem to the heart of towns and cities. Pocket Forests co-create healthy biodiverse spaces in urban areas which can help alleviate several growing problems: flooding, drought, biodiversity loss and the wellbeing of deprived urban communities. Through learning-while-doing workshops we aim to help people to feel like they belong in shared green spaces and can be part of a community of neighbours who enjoy the benefits of connecting with nature on their doorsteps.
A large Pocket Forest is planted in an area of 25square metres (5mx5m). We plant 75 native trees and shrubs using at least 12 different species.
The Pocket Forests team of Amy, Ashe and Catherine will lead the workshops to engage residents in co-creating the shared green amenities. Another aim is to improve residents well-being, sense of community and stewardship of shared areas and feel a part of the climate crisis solution.

This is our intended area it's wasteland not much can be done as it's needed to left somewhat free for a cess to pipes. Our intentions are to create a beautiful eco wild garden. We intend to paint the walls plant fruit shrubs and wild flowers, also we will incorporate a bee and butterfly hotel and encourage biodiversity. Work will begin 2nd week in july on this project.
Hi everyone, I am not sure if you received my message I did post it but it did say site was down ..ok so my apologies for the delay, I met with some other residents last week whom are coming on board for the initial planting ceremony .we have sourced our provider of shrubs and trees which we hope to plant early may .we are going with a no dig planting method and one of the local farmers will supply the top soil . I was unable to fill out the form but can submit my details alternativly if that is an option .again my apologies hope I'm not too late would love this little forest for my estate ...thanks Caroline
Unfortunately only two members of the group could attend todays meeting
we will firstly contact the estate committee to pick a piece of ground to plant the trees and a shrubs. once we have their approval we will then start pricing trees and shrubs from both local and national suppliers. once we have secured the funding for the pocket forest we will order the plants. pick a day in the early spring to get neighbours and friends who live in our estate and village to come out and help with the tree planting. of course we will have adhered to covid-19 regulations by forming people into pods. keeping strict social distancing among these pods and sanitise all tools' and equipment before and after the tree planting
