Lavender is growing well. The second round of planting has been scheduled for September when the plants arrive. Project coming along fine thanks to the work of the team.
Placed an order to get more plants in September. The project is coming along very well. I appreciate the effort everyone has made considering the circumstances. Now nature needs to take her course and we should be fine.
The funding for the project helped a great deal in the procurement of pollinator plants. Without the funding the project would have never got off of the ground. The impact upon the community has been very positive. We have used local growers and landscapers for the procurement of soil and plants. We have established a good relationship with them during this phase of the process. We explained that we have a grant from Microsoft to do this and they have been very interested in the progress and all want pictures as evidence of their participation in the development of the project. Word of mouth mileage of the project and the seed funding at its best.
The local beekeepers association have been invited to see the project and will sign up for cuttings when they become available for their bee yard. I think the biggest impact has been for the bees and butterflies. These plants bloom twice a year in our climate and is a wonderful safe source of food for these creatures. If the bees and butterflies are healthy then so will the orchards and vegetables grown by farmers and citizens in the area. The local crops grown will benefit by this project a great deal.
Completed Phase II of the project this weekend. The group worked to plant more lavender. A good team effort.
Progress this week on making an impact with the community.
