It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to The GreenPlan.
Our mission is to improve the quality of life and wellbeing on Earth for present and future generations by empowering your community to tackle climate change.
I often think of the phrase ‘the power of one’ and I think of how many times people have thought to themselves ‘what can I do’ or ‘can I make a difference’. The GreenPlan on ChangeX is a terrific opportunity for the individual to put a team together and for that team to take relatively easy actions that all join up to reduce emissions. The more communities that join up, the faster we can see real measurable impact and results.
I will be keeping in touch with all The GreenPlan Communities on ChangeX – so look out for regular updates.

The Road Clean recycling running total. 3.28kg of plastic & 3.216kg of aluminium. We’ll add to this again at the Enniscorthy Tidy Towns Spring Clean tomorrow morning from 10am. See you then.
During our National Spring Clean on the 1st of April with Enniscorthy Tidy Towns we managed to collect 78 discarded plastic bottles!! At approx 20g per bottle that's 1560g of plastic for recycling!
We also collected 43 aluminium cans!
All washed and recycled.
There will be 3 bug hotels added to the allotments very soon. One of our members made them for me. I’ve asked him if he would show other members how to make them (and other simple bug hotels) in the coming weeks so they can make them for their own plots or homes. He said he will 👏👏👏 I will organise a workshop later this year all going to plan 🤞
It’d be definitely worth asking. Don’t mow, let it grow.
We will hopefully put one large bug hotel on the allotment soon too once we have all the sensory path work completed. Would the council allow us to wildflower plant any of the small grass verges that are a complete nuisance to mow? I might ask them, would save them time, money and effort 😂
That’s brilliant Noreen. That’s the bug hotel activity in the Biodiversity theme overachieved, with 3 bug hotels clocking us 30 points. I have a few wildflower seeds to plant at the weekend, once I prepare a suitable area 25m2. That’ll be the other Biodiversity theme activity done.
Road side clean today - Cluain Bui Estate. 5.2kg of rubbish collected
Brilliant Noreen. At 20g per plastic bottle & 16g per aluminium can, that’s another 1.132kg recycled. Added to what I recycled, we’re now at 4.248kg recycled from roadside cleaning. Amanda has some more recycling to add to this too that she collected from the Enniscorthy Community Allotments Spring Clean event. And we’ll get more at the Tidy Towns Spring Clean on Monday.
There was 23 plastic bottles and 42 cans recycled too.
You’re on a roll with the road cleaning Noreen! Any recyclables recycled?
Hi all, thanks to everyone who joined us at the allotments for spring clean event today. I really appreciate it.
Here are 42 AA batteries boxed and ready for recycling.
Now for a big gin 🍸
Dervla, Shelly & I collected 63 plastic bottles & 116 aluminium cans on the Litter Pick this morning. All washed & squashed now & cans recycled at local bring bank & plastics ready for Enniscorthy recycle centre on Tuesday morning. At an estimated 20g per bottle that’s about 1.26kg of plastic recycled. At 16g for an empty 500ml aluminium can, that’s about 1.856kg of aluminium recycled, so in total 3.116kg recycled. 5kg is the target for 10 points. We’ll make that up on the Enniscorthy Tidy Towns clean up on Easter Monday 🐣
Spring Clean Time!! With family and friends on board we've collected 15 AA batteries for recycling so far! Watch this space...
And now the 30 others
Great work Irene 👏
Wow Irene. Added to Jono’s 16 garments & your 4 items earlier today, we’ve now reached 50 garments recycled. So with 10 points for every 21 garments recycled, we’ve now exceeded 20 points on this particular activity. This activity is proving the most popular so far.
Four bits of clothes to be recycled today
This is the list of 7 themes and 10 activities in the Green Plan. Each team member is asked to pick the theme of their choice that they can lead. Of course everybody can contribute to everybody’s themes & activities as you see below. More details at the link & also at Resources on the left hand side bar menu.
Sounds great Irene. Well worth it at only €3 each I think!
Hey Dearbhla, I was having a look for the Water Hippo and came across these instead https://watersave.ie/product/ws1009-toilet-tank-bank/, I will order a few for the group if you think they will be an acceptable alternative!
Homemade Cleaning Spray...equal parts vinegar & water, plus a dash of lemon for my own kitchen counter-top cleaner. Simple!
If anyone needs empty used plastic spray bottles to try this, let me know & I can get them from the cleaners in work.
Super Dervla, that’s another activity on the Society theme clocked up. Thanks for sharing the recipe so that we can all have a go at this.
Non-Car Day...so, travelled to Belfast for an event, and I took the train!! Saved 600km round trip by not driving. And you know what, the train was so pleasant; I got to read, catch up on emails (free wifi on board), and even had a snooze 😴. Highly recommended!!
If anyone else in the group has a no car day & takes public transport please post your tickets here with details of the km travelled.
Brilliant Dervla! That’s a whopping start to the Transport theme, No Car Day 🚗 activity clocking 600km off road. Love the train 🚂 You snooze 💤 & you don’t lose!
My mistake! 10am start for Spring Clean tomorrow 10th April.
That's excellent!!!
