Welcome to Radio Local Broadcasters Club where you get to make a radio show, harnessing the skills to do so and celebrating where you are from.
Radio Local Broadcasters Club was born from Hunt &Darton's touring production Radio Local. Radio Local (The Live Show) is a hyper local pop-up radio station, taking up residence on the local high street where it broadcasts live to the streets, over community radio and online. Built through targeted workshops, artist commissions, and by hooking up with a multitude of locals. Radio Local celebrates a place's social ecology and truly reflects people's concerns, interests and culture.
Make jingles, write the soap opera, play games to make content, scavenge, moan, find love or be the news on the hour. Listen to raves (not rants), food reviews of immediate independent eateries, traffic reports from the nearest road and interviews with local legends (identified unsung heroes) shouting out about their contributions to the community and letting them pick the tunes. Eking out local people and passerby’s stories, observations and opinions, from the charmingly mundane to the quite extraordinary to the borderline ridiculous.
Funded by their partners and Arts Council England. Radio Local has toured to 14 UK Locations to date. Partners include Creative People and Places organisations, Barbican, Norfolk and Norwich Festival and local councils.
