It was a long and dream coming true kinda day. Our Come-Unity Joy Garden journey is growing us and produce with Wendy Holstead Irwin of #YellowTractor Katerria Doty of Newfound Babes Robert C. McKenzie (Magic Cluster Gourmet Treats), the one and only Master EncouragerMama Joy Sigur, our MVP children, Ed the Gardener and You in the rain.
We met came to-gather in the Garden, discussed ways to recycle resources. While talking, one of our community leaders saw a City of Chicago truck drive by with cut down trees. She spoke with them and voilà they dropped them off to us to recycle and make tree stump seats. I brought old pots from my house to plant more produce. Our MVP children brought their sunshine, play and keen eyes to the garden. They created their own clubhouse entrance with rope. Our 3 year old rock star sprayed away harmful bugs that eat the leaves. Stay on the lookout for more Clubhouse developments, our Performing Arts stage and Counsel Circle. We are colorfying and beautifying our Southside😍🌱😍

COME-UNITY JOY GARDEN
An InterCommunity agriculture-led collaborative that connects Chicago Southside Community Food deserts with local and global resources, trainings, workshops and relevant tools for community engagement; relative to each community's growing nutritional, psychological, educational, and emotional/spiritual needs for positive social interactions, artistic recreation and regenerative neighborhood development in a safe learning space.
A FUN SPACE that encourages play and cultivation of mind, spirit, body, land and community. By:

Community Carpentry (Carpentry Mentorships)
Senior-ity (Breakfast chats and Gardening tips with our Seniors)
Creating Fall Out Shelters at Joy Justice Garden site (8th Ward) with licensed counselors and therapists to assist those in need of immediate crisis intervention
