We are busy weeding here. Getting ready for our veg to grow.
Action Plan
We have a three step plan based on three locations within our school we would like to garden in.
We have a roof top area in which we plan to grow vegetables and herbs. We will allocate a bed to each class and get the parents involved by helping the kids in each class to plant and look after the veg.
We will put two raised beds on the ground near the yard so that at lunch time the kids can tend them.
We will plant potatoes in these and the kids can wed them.
Behind the basketball court there is an area covered in weeds and nettles. Here we will bank wildflowers for pollination.
We will wear our masks at all times and stay 3metres apart. We will sanitise our hands before and after.
We will leave all veg for 72 hours before handling it after it is harvested.
We would hope to get a small greenhouse tunnel to grow tomatoes.
We plan to involve the parents community by getting them to make soup and have a soup afternoon with the harvested vegtables.
