Would you like to support people hosting refugees? Or are you a host that would like more people to help you?
Change X and The Open Community have launched this funding initiative to help groups in the community support people who are hosting refugees.
To get involved, follow the five steps below as part of the ‘30 day challenge’ to set up your Community Support Group and access funding.
The steps include free online training and resources to support your group, hosts, and displaced families or individuals.
The resources were developed from the collective experience and expertise within Ireland’s Community Sponsorship Programme for Refugees and are based on feedback from people hosting refugees, as well as from people who have resettled in Ireland.

This project has been invaluable in helping our Ukranian friends integrate into the community. It is particularly beneficial to new arrivals until they find their feet in a new country and new community. The project is benefiting local people who are collaborating with Ukranian people, helping them out and in turn learning about their culture, food, crafts, forging friendships. This project is helping put smiles on faces of moms and their children who need a helping hand at this difficult time in their lives.
We are meeting with Ukrainian families to find out what essential needs they have. Where possible if we can source the items we either deliver them or post them. We are providing items such as toys, outerwear, clothes, buggies, nappies. We also provide practical advice where we can such as Ukrainian links to HSE website or other helpful websites. We plan to continue our work for the next three to four months at least.
Our project will have a positive impact on the Ukrainian families we will help. We will hopefully make them feel more comfortable and at home in Ireland while they are here.
