Program Manager

We’re looking for a Program Manager to lead a new climate action program in Central America.

 

Role: Program Manager

Location: Remote (located in Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras or Panama)

Role Status: Full-time role, working exclusively on a new climate action program, financed by Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) Lab. 

Remuneration: Competitive salary subject to experience (between $30,0000 to $40,000 plus benefits)

Our new community-driven climate action program in Central America, supported by the Inter-American Development Bank, will finance proven climate solutions, bringing our model to Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Panama for the first time. 

 

This Role:

This is a full-time position at the core of our impact team, working closely with internal teams (Product and Partnerships) and external teams. You will be accountable to the Latam Lead and will work closely with/report to an IDB Lab Specialist from Panama.

The Program Manager will lead, coordinate, and manage our climate action program.  You will ensure compliance with the program’s goals, including the adoption of at least 20 proven solutions/projects by over 200 local communities in the targeted countries, with 50% of them located in regions where the majority of the population is vulnerable in terms of income and a strong emphasis on indigenous communities and women as key beneficiaries. This will be possible through at least one million USD in grant funding distributed between the communities and innovators. 

 

You will:

  • Develop and execute a project plan that reflects the climate action program’s scope and its goals; complies with ChangeX and IDB Lab policies; and ensures the effective and efficient achievement of all goals and milestones. 
  • Continuously monitor the program’s progress and budget, prepare progress reports and adjust the project plan as needed to ensure all goals are met.
  • Be responsible for all project reporting, supported by the Measurement, Evaluation and Learning team of ChangeX, according to the requirements established by ChangeX and IDB Lab (monthly, quarterly and annual) and ensure all relevant objectives from planning documents (including the financial plan and hiring plan) are met. 
  • Comply with the project contracting plan, following the guidelines established by ChangeX.
  • Ensure alignment between the program team and coordinate with external consultants, partners and other stakeholders as needed
  • Identification and creation of opportunity for partnerships and capacity to manage funds at local and international level.
  • Act as a liaison between ChangeX and IDB Lab, ensuring clear communication on all aspects of the climate action program

  • An entrepreneurial / intrapreneurial track record
  • High social and emotional intelligence and strong team player
  • Strong empathy and ethical fiber 
  • Experience in implementing international cooperation programs, including design, project execution, operational plans and budget management
  • Experience in managing a range of stakeholders, both public and private
  • Knowledge of monitoring and evaluation of social projects.
  • Analytical thinking, leadership skills, and a flexible approach
  • 6+ years of experience working on similar projects
  • Native Spanish and fluency in English
  • Experience and network in Central America
