Our mission? To empower people everywhere to change their communities for the better by making it easy for them to access the innovations, funding and support they need.

So far, more than 25,000 community projects have started through ChangeX, scaling more than 200 innovations and benefitting over one million people.

Our business model is called Impact as a Service. We make it easy for funders to invest in the innovations they want to spread in regions they care most about. Our partners include Microsoft, Nickelodeon, Accenture, the LEGO Foundation and Amazon Web Services.

This role: Impact Associate (Finnish & English)

We are looking for someone experienced in localisation and support, who speaks Finnish & English, to join our impact team. You will first be localising our platform into Finnish, and later, be responsible for providing first-line support to organisations and individuals seeking funding for community projects.

Localisation:

We are looking to translate part of our website and supporting documents (approx. 60k words) from UK/US English to Finnish. We are looking for a native Finnish speaker and experienced translator to use Phrase to make corrections to the autotranslations we have already done, in the context of the website and then approve strings. We also expect some documents like PDFs and presentations to be translated in either Phrase or SmartCat.

Ongoing community support:

Your duties will include responding to inquiries via e-mail, carrying out due diligence calls with project organizers via Zoom and assisting customers with the application process; troubleshooting any issues they may have; and providing additional resources as necessary.

We are looking for a candidate that has excellent communication skills in both English and Finnish, is resourceful, reliable, highly organized, analytical, detail-oriented, and able to work independently as well as collaboratively. You should also have a strong commitment to helping individuals achieve their community project goals. Our ideal candidate also has some experience working with non-profits and/or community projects.

You will:

  • Carry out support calls with those who have applied to start a community project in Finnish or in an English-speaking country.
  • Manage Finnish and English language email support via Intercom, following up with community teams to gather the information needed to approve their project and ensuring that all inbound requests are responded to in a timely manner
  • Provide ad hoc Finnish language and content proofreading, reviews, and small translation requests

Timing
This is a part-time role that we estimate will require up to 20-30 hrs/week during the translation phase, and then 10-20 hours a week as an impact associate.

You can choose the times that suit you best to carry out the work, once you have some time blocks (approx 5-10 hours per week) available during regular working hours in Finland for the due diligence calls to be scheduled in your calendar via the ChangeX product.

We are open to committing ourselves to a minimum number of hours per week for the right candidate, and happy to work either on an hourly basis or on a per-word basis for the localisation component.

Growth potential
This is a part-time role with a more significant time dedication for about 4 months, but once the translations are completed and our fund in Finland launches, we can only commit to a few hours a week for ongoing Finnish support.

That said, we are constantly looking for ways to grow our team and provide new responsibilities – making this a potential long-term opportunity.

Application process
If you have a passion for social impact, we would love to hear from you! Please send your CV to Killian at [email protected] by Wednesday, July 31st. And include a note outlining why you think you’d be the right person for this role.
