Tracton Arts & Community Centre is located in beautiful, rural surroundings near the village of Minane Bridge, County Cork. It offers a broad range of facilities in a magnificently restored and extended old school house including conference room facilities and a theatre. Hosting a range of activities to suit young and old, passive or active, the community centre has become the heart of local community life; from exercise classes to art classes, and meetings for mothers & toddlers to activities for the retired.
The Pollinator Patch will provide a welcoming space for community members, while also contributing to ecological diversity. Bees and other wild pollinators will benefit from a wide range of nectar and pollen sources throughout the year. Nesting sites for solitary bees are a possibility.

All, I have just submitted the request to unlock the remaining 300 euros of funding.
Also, I received a donation of wild flower seeds.
And, we need to buy mulch.
Hi All, well we planted some trees! We received some young bare root trees, native Irish species from a neighbour and we planted tham at the polinator patch at the tracton arts and community centre.
The donation came from Gerda; we dug up the trees (birch, holly, rowan and oak) with help from John Moran. We transported the trees to the Tracton Polinator patch, and planted them with help from John, Cyril, Phoebe, Rodney and Helen (people from the Tracton Athletics Club and the Tracton Biodiversity Group).
Yes got this email and we are waiting a bit to show progress, and that progress is waiting for me to make a PLAN!!! Maybe I can ask Robin Good to help me since we were on a project mgt course together about a decade ago.
I got an email recently from ChangeX looking for an update on the project. There's a questionnaire to fill out, I imagine this would help in unlocking the stage 2 funding. Did anybody else receive this email? If not, please contact me at [email protected] and we can fill it out.
At the Tracton Arts and Community Centre there are two car parks, some grassy areas and a hard pack track that is used and operated by the Tracton Athletics Club. The plan is:
1. December 2021: Survey and map the area to identify the most suitable patches to locate the pollinator plants.
2. December 2021: Draw up a detailed plan of the plantings at the locations. Price plantings including any equipment needed (stakes, cable ties etc). Gardening tools will be brought by volunteers during planting sessions.
3. March 2022: Agree with the location of the pollinator patch with the local community, the Tracton Arts and Community Centre leadership, the Tracton Biodiversity Group and the Tracton Athletics Club.
4. Spring 2022: Whenever the grant is available, order pollinator friendly native species of plants.
5. March April 2022: Organise a planting day or two depending on what is needed. Request help from volunteers in the community and athletics club.
6. Organise gardening sessions with locals including schools to talk about pollination and Biodiversity.
7. Write report and apply for the remainder of the grant. Invite local paper and photographers to cover the story and write a press release.
8. Tend the pollinator plants as needed, ensure continuity via the community volunteers. Make a multi year plan and cost it up. Seek further grants to keep the pollinator plants alive and thriving for many years to come.
