The Allotment Society of Kilcoole is a community of local residents growing their own food, both at home and in communal spaces. The Society was founded in June 2016.
We are currently focusing our efforts on four objectives:
1. Registering people who are interested in allotments
2. Identifying potential sites to lease or buy, either public or private land
3. Organising monthly meetings to visit gardens, discuss food growing, etc.
4. Establishing the Society as a registered charity, drafting our constitution, etc.
Please join our GIY group or Facebook page to see when our next meeting is. We'd love to hear from you!

Hi. I am looking to set up a small allotment in an empty undevelopable green space adjacent my housing estate in bray. Would you be able to touch base to get some advice and pointers? Eilish
Newcastle Hospital in Killadreenan are looking for volunteers in their gardens, if anyone local is interested please contact Wicklow Volunteer Centre:
"Gardener - Friends of Newcastle Hospital
Volunteers are needed to help support a new garden initiative in Newcastle Hospital, Newtownmountkennedy.
The new garden will involve the development of a sensory area, a vegetable plot and glass house and the overhaul of the existing area.
If you have green fingers or a general interest in gardening and have an hour or two a week we would appreciate your involvement in this new initiative. There will be no heavy work but the garden will require ongoing maintenance and development."
Update on the search for an allotment site in Kilcoole: we are still trying to get a response from Wicklow County Council's housing department, who are responsible for a large council-owned site on Lott Lane. They have verbally agreed to do allotments here but we are trying to get more details on their plans for this land.
I have also reached out to see if we can contact the new owners of the Convent about allotments and community gardens on that land.
I hope everyone had a great summer growing whatever you were able.
Hi Pamela, there is a private allotment site on Sherlock's Lane - I will send you the info via private message.
