Local Action leads to Global Impact and we can't wait to hear about the impact you, your teachers and your students are having through the simple act of food growing.

As a school we wanted to promote biodiversity and teach the importance of flowers in the ecosystem. We allocated a portion of our school garden and we bought some Bee- Bombs. These are little capsules that have seed and fertiliser in them. We also wanted to see a home for some of the mini-beasts around the school and have a location that we could go to for mini-beast hunts. We bought a Bug-hotel for the school garden and we have spent some time this year relocating some our our multi-legged friends to the hotel for a vacation using pooters for our science lessons.
Our project aims to inspire and promote a sense of ownership of the school and the environment in the children. We aim to provide a facility in the school that I capable of giving teachers a means to teach science and Geography in an outdoor setting.
Our plan of expenditure is to go to the local Men’s Shed in Lucan.
We have arranged the purchase of 2 planters and 1 bedding supports at €100 each. We want to buy tools that will allow whole classes to work so we have allocated €200 on trowels and gloves. Finally we want to buy herbs and vegetables that will allow us to get a yield all year round so we are going to spend €150 on seeds. The remaining money will be spent on the regeneration of the garden as it requires cleaning and removal of weeds
