Join Midleton GIY group and Herbalist Vivienne Campbell on a wild food foraging walk and learn about our hedgerows, woods and fields providing a wealth of wild foods we can eat. We depart from Midleton Hospital at 10.30am and walk to Ballynannan Wood and back to our Community Garden - approx. 2.5hrs, very easy walking. Please bring picnic lunch.
Lissy Weber from Germany who has completed a horticultual diploma at Kinsale College has decided to helpout as garden maintenance volunteer. She is based in Kinsale and will help out several days a week during the coming season. Welcome busy Lissy!
Last Saturday we planted a variety of early crop potatoes; Lady Christl, Charlotte, Duke of York and Sarpo. We'll organise a Spud Off day with a tasting competion some time around end June so local amateur growers can bring along their spuds to see who wins Midleton's Best Taste Award! More to follow....
Mary Walsh is taking us through seed sowing techniques and direct sowing into soil; we'll ask participants to help with potato planting and demonstrate how our worms are helping make compost. Come aling at 2pm and learn some more gardening magic. Finally a dry day!!
Every Saturday at 2pm and every Tuesday & Wednesday at 6.30pm. Our garden is open 24/7, but please bear in mind that it is run by volunteers who may not be present when you drop by.
